VTREC’s booth opened for visitor as early as 9.00 o’clock in the morning
KUALA LUMPUR, 8 June 2022: Concern with vehicle safety and protection against vehicle theft crime among the motorists, Vehicle Theft Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTREC) joined PUSPAKOM Inspection Centre, Wangsa Maju at their exhibition space to educate and to engage the motorists on vehicle protection and education.

The exhibition received positive response from the motorists and vehicles owners, more than 600 outreaches have been made throughout the day. According to Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, VTREC Co-ordinator, since outbreak of Covid-19 in Malaysia, VTREC has been very concerned, while key stakeholders have given strong support and worked together to fight vehicle theft. She said, “The public awareness and education initiative will be one of great ways to highlight the need for vehicle theft crime prevention among the motorists and vehicle owners as well as encourage them to take action in preventing crime of vehicle theft.”

“Educating the public is one of the most important strategies for preventing vehicle theft crime. People who know what actions they can take to reduce their vehicle theft risk and how they can enhance neighbourhood safety leads to safer community. By reminding people that a problem exists and showing them how to address the problem, we are enabling them to take action”, she added.
Motor vehicle is the primary mode of transportation for most of people nationwide and often an indispensable part of our lives. In 2021, according to insurance industry statistics over 4,000 people fall victim to this costly vehicle theft crime. Vehicle theft is a multi-million-ringgit crime each year. More than 93% of those stolen vehicles were motorcycles and private cars. Old vehicles proved to be most targeted vehicles. So, to help drivers keep their vehicle safe, VTREC is continuing its initiative through vehicle theft public awareness and prevention.

During the event, YBhg Dato’ Ooi Win Juat, Head of Marketing and Advisory of PUSPAKOM Sdn Bhd delivered his presentation and opened for dialogue session with the public on inspection and vehicle safety.
