PDRM-VTREC Education and Vehicle Theft Awareness at Kota Kinabalu

Officers of VTREC and Officers of PDRM work closely together to educate and to instill awareness of vehicle theft among the public

 

Kota Kinabalu, 25 September 2022: The Vehicle Theft Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTREC) is working in partnership with Jabatan Pencegahan Jenayah dan Keselamatan Komuniti (JPJKK), Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) to educate public about protecting their vehicles and their family vehicles at the PDRM-VTREC Vehicle Theft Public Awareness and Engagement at Imago KK Times Square Shopping Mall, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.  The effort is expected to be able to inculcate the mentality and behaviour change to reducing crime of vehicle theft especially within their community areas.

YBhg Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, Co-ordinator of VTREC highlights that, “PDRM and VTREC are constantly working and campaigning to bring vehicle theft incident further reduce through multiple engagements.  Nevertheless, everyone’s role to protect their vehicle are very much required.”

 

“To avoid the difficulties due to being a victim of vehicle theft, the owners in particular are capable to prevent crime of vehicle theft by protecting their vehicle either motorcycle, car or commercial vehicle from being stolen.  Among others a simple measure such as to install steering lock or park at safe and well-lit areas will be able to protect their vehicle”, according to YBhg Puan Mas Tina.

 

Reaching out to the public is the engagement focus since they have the power to stop the crime of vehicle theft.  The PDRM-VTREC engagement wants to galvanize as many people as possible to advocate for protecting their vehicles, reduce vehicle theft and make it tangible.
