On 11thApril 2018, VTREC co-ordinator, Encik Mohd Yusof bin Idris and his team paid a visit to West Port, Port Klang.  The visit was following VTREC’s lab and initiatives since year 2014 for West Port and Kastam to install new and modern scanner machines at Export Container Gate in order to curb vehicle theft and stolen vehicle parts from being exported abroad. The VTREC’s lab initiatives recognised West Port as a pivotal gateway in combating the transnational vehicle theft and spare-part theft.  The visit was also to further strengthen the working relationship between VTREC and the West Port.  During the visit both parties had a short meeting in exchanging latest information and updates.

VTREC entourage was taken through the site by Encik Muhammad Azizul Zahidin of West Port to key areas at the port including the vessel wharfs, containers platforms, scanner machines site and Customs Control Room (CCR) at 2ndContainer Gate C17.  In order to have better understanding of how the scanner machines work, a briefing was presented by Tuan Muhammad Azwan bin Mohd Radi of  KASTAM on how to read and recognise the images through the scanner screens in monitoring the load carried by passing hauliers in CCR.

Encik Mohd Yusof appreciates the West Port effort in installing the scanner machine at 2ndContainer Gate C17 and KASTAM commitment in having CCR to monitor and have hand controls over the hauliers passing through the scanners. In the meanwhile, Encik Muhammad Azizul Zahidin also mentioned that West Port is in the midst of installing more scanner machines at 1stContainer Gate with the co-operation of Kastam, IPD Klang Selatan, Majlis Perbandaran Klang and Bomba.
