KUALA LUMPUR, 16 MAR 2020 – The Vehicle Theft Reduction Council of Malaysia Berhad (VTREC) held a meeting with the ASEAN Police Forces (ASEANAPOL) at the Aloft Hotel, today. ASEANAPOL Secretariat were presented by Bapak Senior Superintendent Joni Getamala, Director for Police Services and Tuan ASP Khairul Nizam bin Mohd Noh of Police Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), while VTREC Secretariat were presented by Encik Mohd Yusof bin Idris, Senior Advisor of VTREC, Puan Mas Tina binti Abdul Hamid, Manager of VTREC and Puan Afif Aliyana binti Abu Fitri, Executive of VTREC.
The aim of the meeting was to boosting relationship and co-operation between VTREC and ASEANPOL. VTREC expressed the need to work together towards realising the aspiration of forming a strong working relation with ASEANAPOL. At the preliminary level, VTREC proposed to start with the potential areas of collaborations by way of strengthening the understanding and information exchange on vehicle theft crime among the ASEAM member countries.

The fight against vehicle theft crime can only remain effective only if various stakeholders working together. By working closely with other stakeholders including ASEANAPOL, vehicle theft crime can be reduced both in Malaysia as well as in ASEAN member countries.
