KUALA LUMPUR, 9 April 2021: Vehicle Theft Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTREC) had an interview session with BRM 89.9 Radio on its Evening Session Segment discussing on vehicle theft in Malaysia and value of stolen vehicle which presented by VTREC’s Co-ordinator herself, Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid.
The interview was in conjunction with PDRM-VTREC Vehicle Theft Public Awareness Campaign 2021, held on 8 April 2021 at NU Sentral Shopping Mall, Kuala Lumpur. The campaign called “Protect Your Vehicle from Theft”. The interview session took place at 6.12pm during busiest traffic hours from 5.00pm to 7.00pm on Friday, which has been earmarked as the “Safe Drive Hour”.
Aside from music, the radio station also dishes out tips on how to protect a car and value of stolen car.
According to Puan Mas Tina, protecting our car is our responsibility to ensure the car is safe, secured and sound. We should not place the responsibility of protecting our own car on other party’s shoulder. Car safety is very important besides car can be second-most expensive purchase after a house, protecting our car able to reduce the occurrence of vehicle theft and its consequences and improve well-being. Thus, keeping safe and protecting our car is very important for our financial and mental wellbeing.
In regard to value of stolen vehicle, Puan Mas Tina said that the value of a stolen vehicle basically depending on its conditions and related factors such as condition of the vehicle itself, the fitness of the vehicle, tear and wear, manufacturing year, mileages or odometer count, depreciation and others that impacting its market value. Puan Mas Tina also highlighted tips for protecting a car and to keep thieves away such as use additional lock, steering lock, park safely or at well-lit area, consider to install GPS tracking or mobiliser.
