KUALA LUMPUR, 6 July 2021: The Vehicle Theft Reduction Council of Malaysia Berhad (VTREC), paid a virtual courtesy call on YBhg Dato’ Abdul Wahabi bin Abdullah, Penolong Ketua Pengarah (Penguatkuasaan, Kastam Diraja Malaysia (KASTAM).
The delegates consist of VTREC Co-ordinator, Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid and the VTREC Management staff. Puan Afif Aliyana and Encik Muhammad Alf Mohd Adnan.
YBhg Dato’ Abdul Wahabi express his admiration for VTREC’s efforts to deal with the vehicle theft crime resulting reduction in vehicle theft cases since 5 years ago and briefed on the current situation and efforts including combating smuggled vehicles. Among other matters discussed was issue pertaining illicit stolen vehicle smuggling in Malaysia either between ports as well as border barriers.
Also discussed during the meeting which lasted about an hour were issues concerning cloned vehicle coming from neighbouring countries. Clones cars often involve scrapped vehicles from neighbouring countries taking on the identity of a Malaysian-registered vehicle with cloned road tax, fake registration number and fake registration card which amounting to an identity theft.
