ALOR SETAR, 28 January 2022: The strategic co-operation opportunity between Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) through Jabatan Pencegahan Jenayah dan Keselamatan Komuniti (JPJKK) and Vehicle Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTREC) on vehicle theft mini awareness campaign to further reduce the rate of vehicle theft in the country has been materialised. Vehicle theft awareness rising is a process that seeks to inform and educate the community about vehicle theft with the hope to change motorists’ attitude and behaviour to care and protect their vehicles from being stolen. The event with theme “Protect Your Vehicle from Theft” was held at Raia Hotel and Convention Centre, Alor Setar, Kedah.

The event was graced by keynote and officiating address by YDH Tuan SAC Jamel bin Salleh, Ketua Penolong Pengarah Operasi Darat Bukit Aman. During his speech, YDH Tuan SAC Jamel thanked and congratulated VTREC for working closely with PDRM to drive down vehicle theft in the country. He has touched on a variety of points including how JPJKK and VTREC can collaborate to further reduce the vehicle theft nationwide through education and awareness. The PDRM-VTREC Vehicle Theft Mini Awareness Campaign clearly demonstrate a significant role played by government agencies and non-government agencies such as PDRM and VTREC in fighting vehicle theft. Strong collaboration between the two entities is much needed and should serve as important strategy to bring down vehicle theft crime that will benefit the community and country.

The event began with an Opening Remarks speech by the Co-ordinator of VTREC, Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid. In her speech, Puan Mas Tina noted that the mini campaigns aimed to further reduce the rate of vehicle theft in the country through public outreach campaigns and behavioural change among motorists to protect their vehicle from being stolen. It is essential to keep their vehicles safe and protected which reflect the campaign’s theme “PROTECT YOUR VEHICLE FROM THEFT”. Puan Mas Tina mentioned that besides Mini Campaign Outreach at Alor, Setar, Kedah, another 3 mini campaigns are scheduled to be held at Selangor, Johor and Sarawak. At the end of her speech, Puan Mas Tina thanked YDH Tuan SAC Jamel Salleh, Ketua Penolong Pengarah Operasi Darat Bukit Aman for officiating the Mini Awareness Campaign Outreach at Alor Setar. The thank you note was also extended to YDH Tuan SAC Alzafny Ahmad, Ketua JPJKK Kedah and his officers for their relentless co-operation throughout the campaign. Nevertheless, Puan Mas Tina also recorded highest appreciation to PDRM, especially JPJKK Bukit Aman and JPJKK Kedah for co-organising the PDRM-VTREC Vehicle Theft Mini Awareness Campaign at Kedah, then extended the appreciation to all government agencies and students of UUM for their co-operations and contributions. The event then continued with a vehicle theft presentation by VTREC’s Executive Officer, Puan Afif Aliyana Abu Fitri.
