Johor Bahru, 5 April 2022 – Vehicle Theft Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTREC) with the collaboration Polis Diraja Malaysia – Jabatan Pencegahan Jenayah dan Keselamatan Komuniti (JPJKK) yesterday held the vehicle theft protection mini campaign, to promote responsible in protecting vehicles among vehicles owners and public.

The campaign saw more than 2,500 public from Johor Bahru attending the advocacy including talk on responsibility of public to protect their vehicles. They also participated in activities such as writing messages on Doodle Wall, colouring the Doodle Wall, contests and quizzes.

Speaking about the campaign, Co-ordinator of VTREC, YBhg Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid said, “Vehicle such as motorcycle, car, taxi, bus, lorry and other sort of vehicle are our transportation elements in our daily lives. Vehicle is also probably the second-most expensive purchase we ever made in our life to move around, next to owing a house. Owing a vehicle either motorcycle, car or any other type of vehicle is no small investment. Having a vehicle will come in handy like having own freedom in getting from point A to B, convenience, can take a road trips, great for individual and families, have a complete control over your journey either short or long distance and have a complete control over your time, it can save time.
YBhg Puan Mas Tina also mentioned that, “Having a vehicle makes life considerably more helpful, can enjoy the liberty and independence that comes with a vehicle and it increase life happiness and well-being. Therefore, educating the public especially the users, the owner and their family on the proper care of vehicle safety is crucial to protect their vehicle, in order to enhance their life well-being and happiness. As a Council of vehicle theft, we at VTREC would like to create awareness and encourage people especially the users, owner and their family to protect their vehicle from being stolen by vehicle thieves.”
The Vehicle Theft Mini Campaign was officiated by YDH Tuan SAC Jamel Salleh, Ketua Penolong Pengarah Operasi Darat, Jabatan Pencegahan Jenayah dan Keselamatan Komuniti, Polis DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM), Bukit Aman on 28 January 2022 at Alor Setar, Kedah.
Earlier in January and February 2022, two events of PDRM-VTREC mini campaigns were held at Alor Setar, Kedah and Kota Damansara, Selangor. VTREC amplifies its commitment in assisting PDRM and respective enforcement agencies such as Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia (JPJ) and Jabatan Kastam DiRaja Malaysia (JKDM) in reducing vehicle theft rate in Malaysia and to increase people well-being in the nation.
