YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, Co-ordinator of Vehicle Theft Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTREC) representing a memento plague to YBhg Dato’ Sazali Mohamad, Deputy Director General of Royal Malaysian Customs Department
PUTRAJAYA, 27 June 2023: The Co-ordinator of Vehicle Theft Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTREC), YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid paid a courtesy call on Deputy Director General of Customs, YBhg Dato’ Sazali Mohamad at his office at Putrajaya. Also presented during the event were YBrs Tuan Mohd Khafez Mudri, Pegawai Khas JKDM and Puan Siti Aqilah Razali, VTREC Executive.
The even saw an exchange of information on role of VTREC, status of vehicle theft in the country, potential opportunities of collaboration between VTREC and Customs and Customs role in preventing vehicle theft. YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid praised Customs on their role in curbing stolen of vehicle theft in particular smuggling of vehicle theft via ports resulting from various of their initiatives among others rapid scanners and database profiling.
During the meeting YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid highlighted the reduction of vehicle theft in the country in 2022 as compared to prior years, however keyless vehicles have been the new target by the perpetrators to steal a vehicle within a few seconds and the increase number of Toyota Hilux being stolen.
YBhg Dato’ Sazali Mohamad highlighted some of the initiatives taken by Customs in the fight against international vehicle theft trafficking especially through ports. He welcomes the idea of co-operation for the greater good in combating vehicle theft including preventing smuggling of vehicle theft. The visit is expected to strengthen the mutual co-operation and longstanding good relation between VTREC and Customs in combating vehicle theft in the country. Both parties had a fruitful discussion and exchanged views on an array of vehicle theft topic. At the end of the event, both parties had an exchanged of mementos.
