KUALA LUMPUR, 26 June 2019: The ultimate role in VTREC is to reduce the rate of vehicle theft nationwide. The collaboration and combination of PDRM’s efforts with VTREC has not only made positive impacts, it also supports the recent Prime Minister’s call for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to re-create the objectives and value of the work of ‘Malaysia Incorporated’, the cooperation between the public with private parties.

“We record our highest appreciation to PDRM especially the Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah (JSJ) and Jabatan Pencegahan Jenayah dan Keselamatan Komuniti (JPJKK) in preparing and organising such awareness campaign to drive down the vehicle theft in Malaysia.” The close collaboration between various agencies, like VTREC and PDRM sees a positive reduction in vehicle theft for all categories such as Motorcycle, Personal Motorcar and Commercial Vehicle. A total of 35,953 vehicle thefts were recorded in 2018 compared to 42,158 in 2017.

The Soft Launch Ceremony was officiated by YDH Dato’ Huzir bin Mohamed, Director of CID, Polis Diraja Malaysia at Bukit Aman police headquarters today. VTREC in collaboration with PDRM embarked its Soft Launch of 2-month long public awareness campaign on reduction of vehicle theft with slogan “SAY NO TO VEHICLE THEFT”.
The campaign will be running hashtag contests on social media, including #VTRECPledgeWall Contest, #VTRECStickerSelfie Contest and #VTRECBoothSnap Contest, quizzes, stamps hunting and lucky draws.
