Education and Vehicle Theft Public Awareness at Kota Damansara

Kota Damansara, 19 February 2022: Vehicle Theft Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTREC) is working in partnership with Jabatan Pencegahan Jenayah dan Keselamatan Komuniti (JPJKK), Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) to educate public and young people about protecting their vehicles and their family vehicles at the PDRM-VTREC Vehicle Theft Public Awareness Mini Campaign.  The effort is expected to be able to inculcate the mentality and behavior change to reducing crime of vehicle theft especially within their community areas.

 

The Doodle Wall for public engagment on vehicle theft

 

The Doodle Wall provided at the mini campaign is an engagement toolkit to hold engagement with the public on root causes that lead to vehicles being stolen as well as allowing them to leave awareness messages to all vehicle’s owners.

According to YBhg Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, the Co-ordinator of VTREC, “We want more people to understand to what crime vehicle theft is.  The PDRM-VTREC vehicle theft public awareness mini campaign aims to show that vehicle theft may cause various issues with adverse impacts including their transportation, financial, mental as well as their wellbeing, that are prevalent in particular society level.”

 YBhg Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, Co-ordinator of VTREC presented the presents to the Lucky Winner of the Vehicle Theft Quiz at the PDRM-VTREC Vehicle Theft Public Awareness Mini Campaign at Kota Damansara.

 

 

 

 

 

 

YBhg Puan Mas Tina highlights that, “to avoid the difficulties and the impacts, the owners especially are capable to prevent crime of vehicle theft by protecting their vehicle either motorcycle, car or commercial vehicle from being stolen for example to install steering lock or park at safe and well-lit areas.  We are constantly working and campaigning to bring vehicle theft incident further reduce through 4-series of mini campaigns namely in Kedah, Selangor, Johor and Sarawak.”

She also mentioned that, “Our PDRM-VTREC vehicle theft public awareness mini campaign believes everyone can play a role in reducing crime of vehicle theft. We want tackling vehicle theft crime to be everyone’s business.  We are reaching out to the public because they have the power to stop the crime of vehicle theft and to do that, we need everyone to be involved. We want to galvanize as many people as possible to be advocates for protecting their vehicles, reduce vehicle theft and make it tangible.  Together we can create a society that is happier, sheer privilege of their wellbeing and always having their vehicle to move around.”

The supports and responses from public at the PDRM-VTREC vehicle theft public awareness mini campaign booth at Giant, Kota Damansara, Selangor where the mini campaign took place were overwhelming, however strict monitoring of Covid19 SOP has hindered any crowd among the participants.
