Crime of vehicle theft with motive to steal its parts and crime of fake spare parts affects all Malaysians, irrespective of race, religion, gender or income level.  While we are literally already starting to see some positive indicators on the nationwide level of vehicle theft and road traffic accident, we have much more to contribute to further increase Malaysians well-being and live in a beautiful, order and safer country.

Reducing crime of stolen spare parts and crime of fake spare parts is important to our country especially when Malaysia is making a leap to join developed country.  In order to sustain the quality of life and better well-being, they require us to address some of the polarities that exist in Malaysia.  Be optimistic at the same time to work within our limited recourses would drive us to be creative where new approach is needed.  The involvement of multiple stakeholders both the government agencies and non-government agencies including the public and communities have to actively engaged, as compared to solely shouldered by the police to reduce the crimes.

The Lab offers a through and well-rounded discussion of the many sides of the crime of stolen spare parts and the crime of fake spare parts discussion and debate in a clear and accessible language, including latest information and changes concerning various aspects including physical environment and crime, high potential for deviance, offenders,  act, rule of intervention, law, enforcement, prevention, vehicle theft, stolen spare parts, fake spare parts, stakeholders role, jurisdiction, policing, integration, community, monitoring, initiative, engagement and many more.

The VTREC Lab 3 aims are:

  1. To identify the gaps and weaknesses
  2. To find solutions and remedies
  3. To find short term and long-term solutions and remedies

Those aims are related to reducing crime of stolen spare parts and crime of fake spare parts. As a matter of fact, there are a number of solutions and remedies derived from the lab may take a long journey to be materialised, but at least on the positive note, VTREC has started somewhere to alleviate and mitigate the issues of stolen spare parts and fake spare parts.  To materialise the findings, all stakeholders need to hold hand and work holistically as a team rather than performing solo. Together we can make it a success
