KELANG, 18 March 2023: Vehicle Theft Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTREC) continues its vehicle theft prevention mini campaign with the co-operation of Bahagian Pencegahan Jenayah dan Keselamatan Komuniti (BPJKK), Polis Diraja Malaysia, Daerah Kelang Selatan at Giant Hypermarket Kelang in a bid to increase awareness amongst motorist and public.

YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, Co-ordinator of VTREC said “the ability to deter theft is a valuable skill, since our vehicle is an expensive asset after our house. Stealing a car no longer requires brute force, keyless entry or push-to-start ignition make it easier for car thieves to steal a vehicle in seconds. Hence, protect your vehicle and park only at safe and strategic area.”
The mini engagement event was also attended by PDRM officers of Bahagian Pencegahan Jenayah dan Keselamatan Komuniti (BPJKK), Polis Diraja Malaysia, Daerah Kelang Selatan. Headed by Puan Sub-Inspector Peramah Selvi A/P Karuppiah, Representative of Amanita and staff of Giant Hypermarket Kelang, headed by Mr Suresh a/l Krishana, Complex Manager of Giant Hypermarket Kelang.
The mini campaign aims to increase awareness, to educate regarding prevention of vehicle theft among the public. This is part of VTREC commitment toward reducing vehicle theft in the country. More than 1,200 brochures have been distributed to the public and social media platform were also being utilised to prompt the public. The vehicle theft prevention mini campaign made learning and awareness fun yet scientific through:
- Interactive Session: VTREC offers explanation to the public about do and don’t while securing their vehicle.
- Practical learning: The public learnt how to lock the steering wheel, how simple it is and the important of applying security features in their vehicle. To make this learning more practical and fun, public got hands-on learning experience on the VTREC’s special demo set of steering wheels.
- Learning Became Fun: To ensure that the public both young and old could learn more about prevention of vehicle theft, VTREC also conducted fun educational activities like writing prevent vehicle theft messages on the engagement wall, doodle colouring, steering lock game, wheel of fortune. Winners will redeem their prizes instantly.
The awareness event through a series of educative and interactive session have attracted the public to participate and to leave their messages on the wall. This also provide a good platform to reach out the vehicle theft prevention to masses at large. Nevertheless, VTREC thanked Giant Hypermarket for their contribution of the venue.
